What began as a saloon in 1889 is today the Hull Street Blues Cafe, listed as one of the best neighborhood restaurants in Baltimore. It is wedged among blocks of row houses in South Baltimore's Locust Point, on a side street named after Isaac Hull, a naval hero in the war of 1812. Also in his honor is the Cafe's Commodore Room for casual gourmet dining with linens and stemware. It gives the place a split personality as the adjacent room can be filled with locals lining a 40 foot long bar enjoying brews and lighter fare.
Dan and Kathy Macatee have seen their menu grow from a steamship round sandwich to include all of the basics from filet mignon and fresh salmon to Hull Street crab cakes and wild mushroom ravioli. Nightly dinner specials include a variety grilled fresh fish and steaks, many served with homemade sauces created from the freshest ingredients. They take special pride in their Hull Street chili and fresh soups du jour as well as home baked desserts. Hull Street Blues' award winning Sunday brunch is a buffet style that offers a wide variety of breakfast and lunch items as well as made to order French toast and pancakes. It includes tastes for all and is sure to please. The Hull Street Blues staff will cater parties upstairs in our banquet room or at a location of your choice. For visitors to historic Fort McHenry or to the Baltimore Inner Harbor, it is ideal as a lunch or dinner stop. Hull Street Blues Cafe is minutes from the Inner Harbor and a short stroll to Tide Point where you can take the water taxi if you choose.
